In addition to the first real life
example already submitted, I wish to continue with anti-CEDAW demonstrators on
the streets of Tonga and its irrelevancy on culture and equality.
Given this example, the
first article mentioned gender equality oversimplified which is the fixation of
women’s privileges on cultural beliefs and hierarchy can be misleading, and
since Tonga is culturally based proves the article that gender equality is
distorted. So in relation to
politics, organizations and churches, women are recognized and treated with
honor but they are not part of the decision bodies. This is fabrication at
best, where equality is challenging.

Thank you Mr Tongan Man, for speaking out and putting it so clear... sad how women still remain blind and deaf to the reality which your words speak so clearly. How much do u believe FEAR still rules?
ReplyDeleteThank you Unknown for your contribution. Women in Tonga are not in fear, its actually lack of education, lack of information, lack of understanding on CEDAW in general. Perhaps these are the reason as why they are in opposition. I am pretty sure that once they understand the full context of CEDAW, they would probably contest on the streets again for its adoption.
